of Rouses Point, NY, and surrounding North Country at the same time, in the same place.

The Judd Foundation

Yesterday I attended an event that the Judd Foundation sponsored. It's a secret event held at 5:00 pm on Mondays. To gain access you must bring a sweet.

The sweets were eaten at his house in Soho, which is amazing. It's the type of space that makes you want to change yours (house, life, head, etc.) Judd had strong opinions and sometimes made idiosyncratic decisions. His book, the "Complete Writings" is rare, but his library in online!

I did find this short Judd piece on Youtube. And from the Judd Foundation website, "It's Hard to Find a Good Lamp."

Glue

Looking ahead and behind, around and up. First off, I love this Youtube segment on Adam Simon by James Kalm. Next up, James Wagner's blog just hit the 8th year mark! Sharon Butler puts a plug in for Camp Pocket U.

Cildo Meireles and Manfred Pernice are keeping me company on the couch tonight while I'm reading Paul Chan's "The Unthinkable Community," from e-flux journal #16. It's cold in herebut my computer actually feels good tonight.

My boys have just returned from their weekend away. They're cold too having just got off the bus. One boy, the child, not the husband has pied in his pants. Meditation over. Run a bath, whip up something to eat and get'em warmed up! Time to spin around, off the couch!

pictured above, 3 Chairs, installation 2005, seems apt for this evening (wood and paper)

Back to business

Sharon Butler picking us up in New Haven

Getting back to business after a weekend of "Social Media: The User-Friendly Tool for Artists," a panel that me, Hrag and Sharon Butler sat on. The button line is community, whether online or in person we are our community. Traditional hierarchies can flatten online, spread out and suck your time.

Favorite quote of the day: “a life in art is an unimaginable and unpredictable experience.” -Sol LeWitt.

Now it's back to the studio and Camp Pocket U.

Below a Camp Pocket U update and note from me and Norte Maar:

A big THANKS to all who managed to vote for Camp Pocket U in it's effort to win a $25,000 project grant from Pespi. Unfortunately we didn't win big corporate support for our free kids summer camp, but no worries, our strength has always been at the grass roots level. We know we can count on your individual vote/support in our efforts to make this free summer program happen!

Our goal is to raise $7,500 to support our two week camp called CAMP POCKET U

$125 provides supplies for an art project for the camp.
$250 brings five kids to camp.
$500 brings an professional artist to Rouses Point to teach for three days.

SUPPORT CAMP POCKET by supporting NORTE MAAR.
